he has a number of "qualifiers" he could use. My guess he used the 2:49 net at Vermont City marathon (the fastest one I've seen. there was a sub2:50 at Missoula but he was DQ'ed at that one).

http://kiplitton.blogspot.com/2011/01/vermont-city-marathon.html
05/30/10 KeyBank Vermont City Marathon 02:53:36 02:49:02 00:04:34 net difference; 6:11/mi for final 10K Link-VT[/quote]

Boston 2012 qualifiers must be Sept 25, 2010 or later.
Based on the list at http://kiplitton.blogspot.com he must have used Charlotte Thunderbird Marathon.

Looks like he cheated in that one too, but he hit all the mats and there wasn't enough evidence to DQ him

Especially important is the warning to avoid conversations with the demon. We may ask what is relevant but anything beyond that is dangerous. He is a liar. The demon is a liar. He will lie to confuse us. But he will also mix lies with the truth to attack us. The attack is psychological, Damien, and powerful. So don't listen to him. Remember that - do not listen.

a piece written by "a seasoned pro" - man I am hoping it is Michael Lewis. He is awesome at this kind of stuff. "Marathon: the art of cheating a fair course".

Or maybe Chris Leer - "Sub Three".

I actually predict it will be Outside Magazine.

I heard that it was Marion Jones...She "wrote" a book and knows a bit about related topics.

As some of you already know, this story WILL still be written. Although late to the game, as a writer I was fascinated by all this. It seemed so obvious. As I pondered an angle, I researched and interviewed dozens of people. To my surprise, I discovered a shocking new side to this tale. My piece will appear, and now it will have a very interesting but unusual slant to it. Before then, I am very interested in any evidence on either side that readers would like to submit to me. One caveat- I will discard any that does not contain a name and contact info- it won't be published, but I must have it. If we haven't already communicated, submit you info to writestuffdavis@aol.com.

I don't know if the person who wrote this is legit or not, but it I confirmed today with the writer that has spoken with me over the past few months that it is not him.

Sounds like something Kippy Cheaterpants would write.

Those of us who were in on the KL investigation from the start, be careful. Some of these requests from people to interview us for a potential magazine article could have alternative motives.

Dozens of people? Ouch1000 - can you ask the writer you are involved with if there were even 10 people interviewed for his story? "Dozens" is yet another red flag regarding the request from 'Quite a story'.

I agree, most runners who Kip beat by cheating would never know unless they stumbled across this thread here, there was one also on Runnersworld a while back. But unless you go back and check the names of folks who have beaten you in a race I would think most would never know. Maybe Kip is well known up in MI for his antics.

I do have to wonder what makes him pick certain races though.

From studying photos, I believe Kip's technique is/was to mount his race bib just using the top 2 pin holes to his compression shorts, leaving the 2 bottom pinholes on the bib FLAPPING in the breeze and pull up windpaints over the outfit. That way he can make outfit changes...such as starting off jogging the race in last place in baggy pants that make him look like he's got a load in his pants. Then in random order, cut the course, strip clothes, & come back on the race course at a later point.

The problem is that no one notices (or REALLY CARES for that matter ;) ....) that he runs respectable times and wins age group awards until after the race is over and the timing company has SPIT OUT THE FULL RESULTS (all because he's waiting so long to cross the starting line that his NET TIME comes as a huge surprise to race officials and top racers he beats after the timing companies' computer spits the full GUN/CHIP time results out. "And with a spot at the top, it's Kip Litton with a 17:17 5K, despite having starting the race after 3500people (including walkers and handicapped persons with a much smaller guntime/chiptime differential).

To quote a poster on pg51: "This issue of Kip somehow 'plowing' through vast fields of entrants after starting with a delay has been in the backround throughout the discussion. Thanks for pointing out just how absurd this concept is. Certainly the 'flag'for his deceptive ways has been his gun/chip differential. Unless the guy has powers of levitation, some/most of his supposed racing feats are not humanly possible, no matter of his fitness."

Litton will be tracked in Boston. Me and my friend are running it. We will find him before the start and our mission is not the marathon but it is to track Litton. We will sit on his every move. His plan is going to come crashing down.

perhaps we should have a group of people there with KL t-shirts on stationed along the course cheering, spotting, and monitoring.

there was a post earlier in this thread about a t-shirt design that says "No Chip Kip" "Stop Kip"(like Stop PRE) and the like.
