So cutting the course is now a CRIME? I play weekly in both a women's tennis and golf league where a good 20% of the players regularly cheat. I am NOT condoning it & I don't like it, but everyone pretty much just looks the other way. How is running different? What kind of prison sentence are you advocating for running fudgers? |

It's probably too much to ask you to read all 82 pages of this (I haven't read them all after about 20), but this guy is well beyond a nudge of a golf-ball out of the rough. If memory serves, he has done various eyebrow-raising things like: -taking age-group money from the real winners -qualified for races that have limited entry (Boston) and thus taken a spot from a legitimate runner -Completely manufactured a race that he claimed to win (fake results page and everything) -Taken cheating to bizarre and utterly ridiculous lengths- clothing changes, sunglasses, etc. Although you sign off as "sports mom", you seem to miss that in runningm, or more accurately, racing, the point is testing yourself and your training to see how fast you can cover a certain distance (clearly, not counting those that just want to finish). You'll just have to accept that on a site devoted to runners that take the sport seriously, his multiple and systematic efforts to cheat hit a nerve. If you don't understand that, start up letsplaycasualtennis.com, and you can have discussions about how how it's no big deal to cheat, and all will be happy. |

It is a stretch to say that Kip's actions have been criminal. However they are not the product of a rational mind. If it is true that his child is ill I have sympathy for the entire family but that does not mitigate Kip's actions. |

Ever notice how soccer moms, hockey moms, baby on board moms, etc. are always the the worst drivers? They run every stop sign thinking that getting their little Johnny to the game 5 min. late is the worlds number one priority. They weave all over the road worse than any drunk I've ever seen while texting little Suzy about cheer-leading practice. And turn signals? Don't even think about - They're too important to have to follow those laws! No doubt a little cheating is quite normal. |

There was some connection between his running "accomplishments" and raising money for a charity. |

Those who condone cheating or claim it isn't so bad and misrepresent the stance of those who express disapproval are worse than the cheats. Our scorn is your punishment before you ask. |

I wish Kip the best going forward. He's definitely got some masters running talent, and I know if/when he competes legitimately, he can run some decent/solid times for someone his age. no denying what he did in the past. I think it's fair to say we've never seen cheating on this big of a scale with an age-grouper |
shame on you cheater |

I thought I was weaning myself from my 2010 obsession with this fascinating Litton story, but I just keep coming back to see if anyone has any more information. I sure wish that Kip would actually do a face-to-face interview. He really has nothing to lose and everything to gain. A story will come out eventually, but without his participation, he won't have any say in what gets published. If he would just sit down with the reporter, he could at least get his view of the situation out there for the record. Kip - if you're out there, be brave and set the record straight for us. I'm sure you'll come across better than if you remain silent. Still waiting patiently... |

I just had an encounter with the Kipster! I was at our school track doing laps early yesterday morn. I got there just before sunrise to do some intervals. When I arrived there was already a guy doing what looked like the same. It was too dark at first to see details, but he was moving pretty good. I started doing my thing & as the guy passed me a couple times & it got lighter he looked familiar. Then it hit me- it was our Kippy! He was wearing a singlet I'd seen in a pic. I immediately started timing his laps instead of mine without being obvious. He was doing 86-87 sec laps 4 in a row then a slow lap. I decided I would try to chat him up during the slow laps. I figured i'd use the honey instead of vinegar approach. I couldn't synch up at first but was able to at his finish cool down laps. After a bit of small talk, I asked what he was training for. He said "a marathon". I asked which one & he said "not sure yet". He was cordial but curt. I tried to bait him a bit- when I said my buddy was trying to lay down a 2:45 at Chicago, he finally turned to me & said "really? so am I", almost like I caught him off guard. Soon after he stopped & left. He's not reg at Chicago so he must have meant 2:45 at a diff locale. I don't know if he was F'n with me- I didn't act like I knew who he was. My buddy does mile repeats with sub-85 sec laps & it will be iffy for him to post a 2:45- I don't see Kippy pulling it off. I'm gonna keep a closer eye on the track |

This is turning out to be a big bust. What has it been, six months or more? The longer the time period from the actually cheating, the less likely anything will ever be reported on this. A shame, because it (he) deserves to be made public.
