I still claim that the funniest quote from Kip was when he stated that he takes all his training runs "very easy like 7:00-7:30 pace". He even had to lie about that to people who think that 9:00 pace is fast.

for someone who runs very low mileage (15-25mpw), it's possible 7:00-7:30 pace is the pace they actually run. i know high schoolers who run 19mins for 5K and train at 7:00-7:30 pace (or claim they do), heck i was one of them back then, but my pace was probably closer to 8min/mi. but, i think Kip has averaged about 45mpw for the 2010 year according to his 2010 mileage total on his facebook wall (something like that)

The point is that even if a 19 minute 5Ker ran 7:00 to 7:30 pace, it's not going to be "very easy"

with a 45mpw over the whole year a sub3 would actually be possible. I am not sure if his training log should be believed, either.

That's what I really don't get about this guy. Some of the pictures (maybe a couple years old) show a guy that was obviously very fit. He likely did improve significantly for legitimate reasons. I know plenty of guys that have done sub-3 off 45MPW so when he was 45 hitting sub-3 was a very respectable and doable target. Closing in on 50 it gets a lot tougher and keeping up the training for what's honestly a hobby gets tougher.

The only thing I can figure is his mouth wrote some checks his legs couldn't cash and he just can't walk away from it (pun, sorry). He can't fund raise and he can't post a race result without scrutiny but yet he persists. That's a very interesting and perplexing psychosis.

He pisses me off because I take a certain pride in posting accurate results and people like him ruin it for everyone. On the flip side I would really like to know why the hell he would do such a thing. Chandra was a delusional nut case with some frankly scary tenancies, but at least you could figure out her bizarremotivation. Kip is a in a whole new league.

Quote from 2/2/11: 'I am committed to continue my goal of running marathons in every state and raising funds for charity. In time, I believe the questions will disappear.'

It appears Keith, he's got or claims to have something going on the charity end - although I don't know what form it's taken. His last sentence should put to rest any hopes we have of finding out why he's cheated so much. If he thinks anything he's going to do in the future, short of coming clean, is going to make questions disappear, he's seriously mistaken.

People like Kip don't ruin it for others...but I know what you mean. There will always be outliers like The Kip in every sport, everything, really. Take comfort that few can understand what motivates miscreants like The Kip.

Liars and cheaters never piss me off. Anyone can cheat, anyone can lie. That's easy to do.

That said, cheaters outed as cheaters will never have my respect. They are whar they are, ... losers in every way.

ya i agree. still absurd to claim that's "very easy," but there are a lot of slower runners i know out there that train at 7:00 pace and think it's "very easy"

You didn't really ask 'when' did you? See above for answer. Why do you want to know the source of the quote?

Now that it is known to everyone that Kip Litton will be running the Cowtown Marathon, and that almost certainly he will be closely monitored during this race, I say a prediction contest is in order.

What will his time be for a marathon where he will actually run 26.2 miles?

I don't have the ability to organize and coordinate a prediction contest, but what I am willing to do is front the prize money for the person who comes closest to predicting his finish time at the Cowtown Marathon without going over. We'd have to figure out some very minor rules (when entries are due, what happens if he DNS / DNF, he must run all 26.2 miles), but that's not a big deal. The winner could potentially win millions of dollars...here's how:

I'll buy $5 worth of lottery tickets (Power Ball, MegaMillions...whatever they sell at the store by my house). I will mail the winner the ticket. If your lucky streak continues, and you hit all six numbers, you'll be sitting on a pile of cash thanks to Kip Litton.

Cowtown has numerous places where he cut/disappear and pop back on somewhere else. Someone will get "kipped" in that age group.

Somewhat disappointed there've been zero offers to follow The Kip from among the LR faithful.

Anybody have the name of the RD @ Cowtown? Thanks. Will be calling soon.
