According to SoKLR, KL's gun/chip differential was 0:34. The gun goes off at 0:11 in the video, so KL should cross at 0:47. Look for the guy in the green longsleeved shirt.

no question he's there at the very end. he is cutting diagonally across the road at the very end.

Here are some more back-of-the-pack starts with decent placements:

1) BAA 5K 2009 (4/19/09)

2:56 start delay. 18:52. 91st of 3524 finishers. His start delay in the results sticks out like a sore thumb:
http://www.coolrunning.com/results/09/ma/Apr19_BAA5K_set1.shtml

2) Detroit Free Press 5K (10/29/06)

2:18 start delay. 19:15. 6th of 10726 finishers. Masters winner. Start delay is more consistent with those finishing at 28 minutes and slower, not someone trying to win the masters division.
http://results.active.com/pages/oneResult.jsp?pID=16054571&rsID=34701&pubID=3

3) Detroit Free Press Marathon (10/21/07)

3:00 start delay. 2:50:57.
http://results.active.com/pages/oneResult.jsp?pID=32210270&rsID=49343&pubID=3

Would have placed him 30th of 3746 finishers:
http://www.athlinks.com/time.aspx?ecid=28614

But ... he doesn't appear in the results, and you won't find this performance in his athlinks.com list. (I found it in his active.com list - 82 race results.)

This looks like an actual DQ that we haven't had in our list before. He missed the half marathon mat, and comparing his closest splits to others running similar chip or gun times, he would have had to have run splits of 1:35/1:16. Good catch by the race directors.

We need to decide on a definition for the term "kipping" (v. to kip) as in "kipping The Crim in '10" or "he kipped that one for sure". Is it:

a)Cheated by course cutting, driving between mats, using assistants or any similar means.(more generic option)

b) Fabricated the race and results in their entirety. (specific to KL, as this is his "pioneering" effort in the cheating arena)

Both a) and b) qualify, as there is no "real" length that Kip wouldn't go to cheat. This is his world, we just live in it.

This just looks all around goofy. Can a 19:15 really get you 6th place in a 5K with over 10000 finishers?

Assuming it can, how the hell could you run that fast while trying to pass thousand of people in a 5K.

Everything points at cheating in almost every race review in detail. But, it is possible to start way back in a small marathon and pass everyone. I don't buy in in a race that lasts only 5K with this many finishers.

I ran that race (in that age group), it was my 4th marathon and Mr. Alfonso worked at my employer at that time. I know I spoke with him afterward but honestly I don't recall if he finished "2nd" initially. And wouldn't you know it, that is one race I didn't make notes about how I finished because I got a side stitch, slowed into the wind and missed my goal. I was unhappy and just moved on. It was windy that day with a 20 mph headwind the last 3 miles.

I bet I can dig up an email for Albert Alfonso and he should remember vividly as he was from Clarkston too. Dukerdog may know him better than I do though so maybe he will jump in if he does.

Great find - appears to be same shoes and shorts as later in the race, but looks like different top covering his black shirt and did he change hats or is it just poor quality video makes it look different.

Here he is later in the race.
