Clarkston Kent: you appear to be much closer to the focus of this thread than most of us, which is great. Would you be willing to share with us whether Kip is aware of this thread, and if so, has he been reading it with any regularity? Thanks in advance. |

What's the point of following him if he agrees to it. Even if he runs a 2:52, it doesn't vindicate him. And if he runs anything under 3:00, he should be drug tested. As a DR, it would be very easy to get a performance enhancer. |

Kip is aware of this thread. I don't know if he reads it but know some of the contents are shared with him. To the poster who wonders why follow him - two reasons. 1) give him an opportunity, with montiors, to save a little face. None of his monitored results would undo the damage he's wrought but he could demonstrate what he's capable of. Minus previous video or eye witnesses to document his cheating, he's owed this slim chance to 'redeem' himself. 2) give him rope to tighten the case against him. |

I don't get it. I never thought the money angle was right. Always thought it was about some ego deal. Except how do you end up with the ego stroke from co-workers and friends if you run using multiple different names? I guess the latest find would be easy enough to explain, just tell someone that race registration messed it up. The total amount of money and time invested into all this is huge. I also never bought much into the accomplice idea, with the exception of Boston. Now I'm starting to wonder, since a shirt keep re-appearing. In every race does he really have some place to ditch it and then go back and recover it. We need to get some government agency with their image recognition software churning through race photos. Who knows how many different names he has run under.

If he apologizes on his FB page or on letsrun that would be enough for me. For him to cheat and get away with it would be impossible, unless he decides to take his act to Europe. Uh oh, he just may do that! |

The ploy thickens...[/quote] The only way this whole thing could get more convoluted was if Clarkston Kent was one of Kip's multiple personalities and is trying to out the cheating personality David Kipling. |

In the earlier thread regarding the Thunder Road Results (where I got Kip'd out of a 3rd Place AG Medal) Clarkston Kent called me out to be more vocal on this. I believe CK may know me from my time in Michigan, but I don't know who of my Michigan running friends is sitting behind the screen name. Also I don't know Kip/Rich/David personally. |

Try this on for size: - create a charitable foundation, linked to a high profile and valid foundation/cause - create a goal, in this case 50 sub 3's in 50 states, as the foundation's mantra - run around the country, utilizing foundation money to fund this, executing said goal - at the same time, build a list of accomplishments that will be reflected on you personally and will probably be around as long as records exist Message boards, blogs, all those things will eventually disappear. However, race records on formal databases might persist as long as technology exists. You get to have all this fun, getting others to flip the tab, and you get noteriety that will linger long after. The dq's and all that mean nothing, as long as those efforts ere in the books somewhere, because that's what people will see. |

I've become addicted to this bizarre story, here for my daily update. As far as what will he do in the future- I assume he'll keep it up, under false names (or perhaps even his own), and keep getting caught. Ideally, there would be some repository of known cheaters for race directors to access, even dinky little 5k's. But, even if there was (is?) such a thing, the list of possible aliases is long, and for many races you can show up and pay cash day of the race. If the guys hasn't stopped now, I doubt he ever will. I have a feeling that after this cools down, this thread will pop up every few months with a new sighting, suspicious result, missing pictures, and perhaps even a few episodes of being caught red-anded. What a strange and sorry story. |

Clarkston Kent is NOT Kip Litton. I'll vouch for him. There are others that write detailed responses that are not Kip Litton either. I would guess Kip has contributed to this thread a few times. All of which can easily be identified as coming from him based on the ridiculous nature of the comments. Kip Litton is fully aware of this thread and the allegations against him. |

He's going to be next to impossible to catch in the act. He has found every loop hole. If you gave his name to every race director he'd just use one of his aliases. Who knows how many he has? (Kip Litton, David Kipling, Rich Rodriquez) Not every race has displays the entrants publicly. Even if they did, he could use an alias. Even if they did publicize the entrants, and he wanted to use his real name, he'd still be fine if they had race day registration. (The volunteers handling race day registration are going to have no idea who he is.) He also cheats on races that aren't marathons. How we really have no idea where he'll strike next? On top of that, he wears a disguise and sneaks on the course after everyone started. The people most interested in catching him (sub 3hr runners) are long gone by then. He doesn't stick around for the awards, so he'll be hard to confront after the fact. It seems like the only evidence we'll have of course cutting is missing splits and missing photos which isn't much to nail him on. I've run 13 of the races he's either cheated at or is under suspicion of cheating at. Not only that, but I ran similar times to his. 13 RACES AND I'VE NEVER SEEN HIM! I agree that you need him on video leaving the course and coming back on, but I don't think it's ever going to happen. Some people run with those little spy video cameras and document the race, but they're too busy recording themselves to catch some cheater. Nobody looks twice when they see someone run off course in a marathon. They know that 99 times out of a 100 it means that someone has a case of the poops. Nobody wants to accidentally witness that. If he is being monitored, then what is stopping him from faking an injury and dropping out? |

You raise many good points and the answer to your last question is: nothing. However, that too would become part of his 'running portfolio' and referred to in any story that might be written. |
