last of the northville solstice run Surprised to see him in a series of 4 pictures on the course. Not sure where this is. Maybe someone who knows the course can tell us if it is near the end. The fifth picture below was taken in the same spot - it shows more of the background for context. http://www.runmichigan.com/photogallery/09/solstice10k_062709jb_window.php?291 http://www.runmichigan.com/photogallery/09/solstice10k_062709jb_window.php?292 http://www.runmichigan.com/photogallery/09/solstice10k_062709jb_window.php?293 http://www.runmichigan.com/photogallery/09/solstice10k_062709jb_window.php?294 http://www.runmichigan.com/photogallery/09/solstice10k_062709jb_window.php?478 |

From Athlinks--maybe some other earlier ones of his??? they're in Ohio--not far from him but far enough that no one would know him. Racing For Recovery Halloween 5K 10/22/06 bib 280 2/180 18:27 Dave's Ohio Michigan 4 Mile Run 7/23/06 22/134 23:20 Glass City Marathon 4/10/05 bib 3159 27/433 3:04:27 Ohio Michigan Four Mile Run 7/25/04 bib 865 31/397 22:47 I can't find any pictures that old but I'm addicted to this thread & trying to figure out if he was Kipping yet back then or if there just happens to be a fast runner from Ohio named Rich Rodriguez... |

Another nice find, starting with multiple shirts (or was one stashed for a switch?) and wearing a hat and not breaking a sweat. The same MO, over and over. At least he has gotten a lot of wear out of that hat and shirt.

most likely the rich rod thing didn't start until 08 when the real rich rod was hired at UM. presumably would not have been on the radar before then. |

I ran that Solstice race, and know that course well. The pictures here are coming down the final part of Dunlop street (in front of the CVS, for those that know Northville. To the runners' right is the parking behind the Great Harvest Bread Co.) as you approach the park. These pictures are about 0.3 mile from the finish. The other pictures you posted from the Solstice 10k were from the start (on the Northville Downs racetrack), and at the finish (Ford Field Park). That course would be so, so very easy to cut. I imagine at most he ran the first half mile around the horsetrack, then broke off soon after that. The race course then heads out of town. Kip could have made his way about 1/4-1/2 mile up through the downtown to jump in the last 1/2-3/4 mile of the race. Several turns would have allowing him to jump in. My guess would be betweeen Main, Rogers, and Dunlop. He probably had plenty of time to grab a beverage downtown Northville while he was waiting. I'm going to look a little closer at this one. For one, I know there was a photographer just as you hit Center Street (about 3/4 into the race), and I'm guessing Kippy broke off before that. |

Also, forgot to mention about the Solstice '09. For one, that course is extremely hilly and difficult. Second, it was very warm and humid in 2009. Most good runners I know that ran that day were 1-2 minutes slower than their typical 10k times. A 37:14 for Kipper on that day and that course? Haha, add this one to the bullsh*t pile. |

Photographer didn't finish taking shots on Center Street, so that's inconclusive. Kip "finished" 9th, and there was a huge gap betwee 8th place at 35:55, and 10th place at 37:51. Best opportunity to jump in would be there. |

I love posts like this. You take the time to read a thread and then show your hypocrisy by posting in hopes to make others feel bad (it won't work) and yourself feel better (you're insecure). You must spend a lot of time on LR. Do YOU need a hobby? Why post? |

Correct, very, very easy course to jump in and great find. Sure he was way back and ran SO FAST that no one was talking about this guy passing people from 1 mile till the finish. As I said, what race has actually been "proven" to be real? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? |

As the onion layers peel away, I looked up the Rich Rodriguez Glass City marathon result - I ran that one ironically. The RR that was in that race was prob the anchor of a 5 person relay named Team Dads America. The team did not place amongst that top relays. http://www.toledoroadrunners.org/results/results2005/2005_gcm_marathon.htm So, while interesting, probably nothing here, though it is cool how someone posting has run or seen almost all of these races. |

As was stated earlier, it has kind of been a sidebar to the story that it would be very difficult to run these kind of times while starting at the back of the back. I'm going to state my opinion that in the larger races, it wouldnt be very difficult, it would be nearly impossible. Next time your at a crowded stadium for asporting event, try to make good time walking fast through the crowd...its just not reasonable to believe that this can occur. Sure its no smoking gun, but combine this with all of the other evidence and it helps to paint the picture even clearer. We have now uncovered photographs of KL running sideways across the running path...essentially this would mean that he is running farther than the set race distance. This would imply that he was running even faster than what his times show. I hope the evidence continues to mount, it really has went from a story of someone cutting some corners, to bordering on pure insanity. |

As we hit the thousandth post in this thread, I wonder if Kip will ever race again? Or for the first time might be a better question? There doesn't seem to be a conclusively legitimate performance out there that would indicate he's capable of a sub 3:00 marathon. My bet is he won't risk running again and proving that he's just another aging 21 5Ker and 3:30 marathoner. Or maybe he'll switch to becoming a new Richard Rodriguez type character on a permanent basis, but think the days of racer Kip are done. |
