I have to agree. Clarkson Kent, I was looking forward to seeing this story in a "major running publication" that you kept hinting at with your "patience grasshopper" bit, but now this delaying the supposed story because of his "coy behavior" is starting to sound, well, kip-like. If you have a compelling story with facts, reliable accounts from others, etc, go with it. You can say you offered him a chance to respond, and he declined. You have no obligation to wait for him. I hope to be wrong, and see this saga laid out in print, but at this point I'm guessing it won't happen. I can't recall what kind of writer you said/implied you were, but the journalists I know don't sit on a story like this (or any story) for the better part of a year. |
Not a Perry Mason |

IF cheating occurs, IF money is solicited and collected for charity, is FRAUD commited? is FRAUD a crime? if so, who are the victims? OR is it embezzlement? is embezzlement a crime? are the donors then victims? but they gave willingly? Can someone give the legal definition for fraud? and embezzlement? Is a non-profit responsible for the actions of its fund raisers? Is the pink race group responsible for the runners raising money for a cure? Is it fraud when the XC middle school runner keeps the cookie sales fund raising money? Or is that theft? |

"Not a Perry Mason" certainly nails your deductive powers, what have you been smoking? |

Both. Definitely fraud as to the donors and also theft, depending on Michigan's version of theft by deception. As for the non-profit, it is more than likely theft. Isn't likely to be embezzlement if the funds never made it to the charity. |

Agree wholeheartedly with this. People have been more than patient with the process, and Clarkston Kent. Why in the world would anybody delay a story like this because the subject is playing "coy". All that deserves is a line at the end of the article to the effect of "Mr. Litton did not return numerous calls and emails asking for an interview/comment" Done. Sadly, our media is truly becoming a joke. |
It says it all here |

Lets face it, not many people outside the running community care about this. Fortunately this forum has done a much better job of telling the story than some little article in a paper. We already won. |
tricky tricky |

Stories like this can be tricky. There was one recently in my area paper that when after it was printed several people came forward that disclosed information that rendered huge errors in the story. Now there is a big ol law suit & someone's ass is going down. |

I was reading this expecting you to say you finally noticed him cutting across the infield on each lap. You know the cool part about this Kip fiasco? Deep down, Kip probably craves the attention and respect that come with running a marathon, and achieving a decent time. Especially from peers in the running community. Now, even if he trains his arse off and actually legitimately broke 3 hours, or ran a 2:45, his peers in ther running community that know his story will never give him the respect he so desperately craves. Once a liar & cheater, it's tough to get any credibility. That must suck. And deep down somewhere he likely tries to avoid going, he probably realizes this. |
Quite a story |

As some of you already know, this story WILL still be written. Although late to the game, as a writer I was fascinated by all this. It seemed so obvious. As I pondered an angle, I researched and interviewed dozens of people. To my surprise, I discovered a shocking new side to this tale. My piece will appear, and now it will have a very interesting but unusual slant to it. Before then, I am very interested in any evidence on either side that readers would like to submit to me. One caveat- I will discard any that does not contain a name and contact info- it won't be published, but I must have it. If we haven't already communicated, submit you info to writestuffdavis@aol.com. |
Enough all ready |

Clarkston, It's obvious that he isn't going to give his side of the story. Go ahead to tell us what you know. Enough with the delays. Put up or shut up. |
Predicted time |

Does anyone know what 86-87 sec laps for mile repeats equates to for a marathon time?? I would think under 3:00? |

If you are truly the author of the article, I would suggest you re-post the above request using your actual name, or at least an official email address issued by your publication. I imagine some people will hestitate to volunteer their name to some anonymous aol.com email address, especially given the history of Kip Litton creating false websites, impersonating fake race directors, etc.. Who knows how unstable this guy is. Give people some reasonalbe assurance that you are not him. (Can't believe that I had to suggest this.) |

Has it ever crossed your mind that the guy who keeps saying, "There's no need to publish anything. I'll take care of everything." is the Kipster himself? |
Er... |

Please tell me this wasn't a serious question.

Yes, for quite some time now but I thought it sounded a bit paranoid. *Looks over shoulder* |

I refuse to read this giant thread. Amazing how long it is (yes, "that's what she said"). Anyway..... Could someone sum up the thread/story in a paragraph. Some guy named kip cheated I gather, and..... Thanks in advance. |

Predicted time answer |

86-87 secs should be good for a 2:49 marathon time +/- a couple mins either way. |
