So either he is reading this thread, or one of his friends is, because his wall has been public since the start of this thread up until yesterday. There was a post about his Boston marathon results, his PR time and lots of congrats from well wishers. Don't recall if this was on his wall or his wife's. I was just looking for race result posts. |

Now that it is known to everyone that Kip Litton will be running the Cowtown Marathon, and that almost certainly he will be closely monitored during this race, I say a prediction contest is in order. What will his time be for a marathon where he will actually run 26.2 miles? Perhaps some letsrun patron with a T-shirt business could make up a few for awards to the closest predictions, say... SOKLR - we can add the Northville, MI Solstice 10 km from June '10 to The Kip's list of races he's been DQ'd from - confirmed today. Working on Brooksie Way '08. |

The first time it was posted that his wall was private it wasn't. Now it really is. 2:57:32 (Chip time of course) if it is the Kip we've been following. 3:11:47 (possibly limping at one or more points during the race) if it ends up being Kip w/ a chaperon. If I don't win the T-shirt I might buy one. |

My money is on a DNF before the half marathon point. |

I will gladly buy a T-shirt or singlet before the race and wear it while I run in Cowtown. I'd love a West Wyoming Marathon singlet. My other idea was to make a singlet that says: "if you ain't kippin' you ain't winnin' |

If Kip wool dust lay low for 6 months everyone would forget about it, just like with William Jurena. |

Probably a pipe dream, and I'm sure others would shoot it down, but... I wonder how much it would cost for "KipLitton.blogspot.com" to be a sponsor for the Crim 10-mile race in 2011. Just to get listed on the back of the race shirts. I would certainly chip in some $$ for the cause. Imagine, that website link appear on the back of 10,000+ race shirts, in the Flint area. And this would meet the earlier request to "just keep this among the running community". |

A guy cheating to run a 2:54 isn't going to break 3:20 over the full distance. Assuming he finishes, the last 10K will eat him up. I'd bet on a DNS or a DNF.

He won't accept you as a facebook friend.couple people have tried. He and his wife have caught on I think It's possible a letsrunner has already contacted kip's dental office, which would not be good.As another guy said let's stick to the cheating and stay away from facebook. It's too bad the facebook wall is private because it may provide clues into motives...and where he's headed for next races, etc. The most interesting was how Kip litton said on his facebook wall that he drafted off chuck engle at Cox Providence but this was not true because it took Kip 3-4mins to cross starting line so Chuck Engle was already passed 0.5miles when kip was getting going. How did you guy(s) find out about his registering for the TX marathon in a few weeks? Is there a way to do a nation wide search for registrants at upcoming marathons? Also, what if kip registers as dave litton from now on? |

Given the two half times that are very likely legitimate, 1:32 and 1:28, my prediction is for a 3:12 finish. The other possibility is that he tries to prove to the running community that he really is a 2:55 runner and goes out too hard and DNF's before 20 miles. Again, though, as I said before for an aging master a 3:12 isn't a bad time. By no means is it competitive in anything other than a local race, but at the same time it isn't anything to hang your head over. It demonstrates a commitment to this sport and an intelligent approach to training. If you don't believe me, wait until your 50 and see what it takes to keep yourself healthy and still post a decent time on race day. I still can't fathom why he wouldn't prefer a legitimate 3:15ish time over a kipped 2:55. For the non-running crowd, who he's trying to impress, there's no difference between the two. Anything under five or six hours is going to seem like an amazing effort. Oh, yeah. Put me down for one of those "where your dreams become reality" singlets. |

For me, the best and most entertaining part of the whole Kip phenom was actually the facebook page and comments/adoration there. I still claim that the funniest quote from Kip was when he stated that he takes all his training runs "very easy like 7:00-7:30 pace". He even had to lie about that to people who think that 9:00 pace is fast. |
